Larry Brown feels loss of Dean Smith: ‘He’s meant everything to me’

When Roy Williams called Larry Brown on Sunday to make sure he knew about Dean Smith’s death, they talked about the impact of their late mentor. Williams’ North Carolina team had beaten Boston College Saturday afternoon and Brown’s Mustangs defeated Tulsa that night. “The first thing I thought about was we both won,” Brown said. “I’m sure coach Smith had a lot to do with that.”
