Dean Smith, Charlie Scott turned page for ACC to thrive

Everett Case at North Carolina State University gave birth to what would become the phenomenon of Atlantic Coast Conference basketball in the 1950s, but it wasn’t until Dean Smith signed Charles Scott to a UNC scholarship in the mid-1960s that the league was able to solidify itself as a long-term national sensation.
