George Lynch remembers Dean Smith

When George Lynch got to the NBA, he was surprised to find that not everyone had enjoyed playing for their college coach. But Lynch certainly did. He played for the late Dean Smith. Lynch, a former Patrick Henry star, played for Smith at North Carolina from 1989 to 1993. “He treated me like a son,” Lynch, 44, said this week in a phone interview from Dallas.
