Humility helped set Dean Smith apart

Dean Smith had passed away at age 83. It wasn’t a shock –– the coach had been in declining health for years –– though it was jarring, nonetheless. Smith wasn’t just a lion of basketball, he was an institution for hoops lovers whose grasp extended miles beyond playing courts. Smith set standards that are rarely duplicated and in a fashion that can’t be emulated. (Winston-Salem Journal)
