Dean Smith had taste, touch on recruiting trail

When Dean Smith died Feb. 7, the seal was broken on an untold number of stories that had been bottled up by his humility. “I’m going to tell you a funny fact,” Ed Geth said. Here’s “how Dean Smith got me over probably a lot of other schools that were recruiting me.” In 1993, Ed Geth as a reserve forward helped Smith win his second national championship.
