Dean Smith gave Apex coach David Neal a chance, taught many lessons

After playing on the junior varsity team at North Carolina during his freshman and sophomore years, David Neal tried out for Smith's varsity team as a junior.
A graduate of Sanderson High School in Raleigh, Neal had grown up a Tar Heel fan.
