Former Kansas senator initiates Topeka High scholarship fund to honor Dean Smith

Sen. Nancy Kassebaum Baker, a high school classmate of the late college basketball coaching legend Dean Smith, has established a scholarship fund to honor Smith’s memory at the Topeka Community Foundation. That foundation announced Monday that fundraising had begun to finance the scholarship or scholarships to be given to a Trojan or Lady Trojan athlete who is interested in playing in college.
