Sallie Krawcheck started as an investment banking analyst at Salomon brothers, moved to Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette and picked up an MBA from Columbia Business School before joining Bernstein in 1994 as a research associate. Journalism degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in hand, she’d taken the Salomon job to scope out a beat to cover as a business reporter. (ThinkAdvisor)
