Coach Dean Smith's last supper
Posted Mar 29, 2015
A number of the men who received these checks are wealthy and famous -- Michael Jordan, who played for Smith in the early '80s, presumably can afford to eat out now and then. But it's not the money that's the extraordinarily moving principle here. It's the thought and the way it was delivered. It's the idea that this great man, this highly accomplished coach and leader, found a way to have a final timeout, a final word with his players. He found a way to thank them, posthumously, for being a part of his program -- his legacy.
