Emotions boil on both sides as Tar Heels squeak past Wolfpack in 10th inning

North Carolina freshman third baseman Zack Gahagan was part of a walkoff situation for the first time in his baseball career, in his second game against North Carolina State. He said the rivalry “has hit me hard.” So after Gahagan was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Tar Heels a 3-2 victory in Saturday night’s second game of a three-game Atlantic Coast Conference series at Boshamer Stadium, he figured he has this rivalry figured out.
