During coach Bill Guthridge's retirement press conference on June 30th, 2000 former head coach Dean Smith said that day should be a celebration of Guthridge's accomplishments after more than 30 years of service at Carolina. Nearly 15 years later after Guthridge's passing on May 12, 2015 the sentiment is the same.
