Statement from Dean Karen Gil, College of Arts and Sciences, on the death of Lt. Col. John Collins


We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Lt. Col. John W. Collins, who was chair of the aerospace studies department in the College of Arts and Sciences and commander of Air Force ROTC Detachment 590. Lt. Col. Collins came to Carolina last July from the 43rd Operations Support Squadron at Pope Field, near Fayetteville, N.C. As chair of aerospace studies, Lt. Col. Collins was a valued member of the College leadership. (UNC.edu)
