A man full of surprises, ex-Tar Heel J.P. Tokoto prepares for NBA draft

When J.P. Tokoto told his coach of the past three years goodbye, he had one promise that eased Roy Williams’s mind: though he would never wear the Carolina Blue jersey again, he would get a Carolina diploma. “I am going to finish up my degree,” he said. Three years of summer training camps had come with three years of summer school, leaving Tokoto with only one semester’s worth of classes between him and a degree.
