Journalists to honor Dean Smith with award

The United States Basketball Writers Association and the University of North Carolina jointly announced today the creation of an award to honor the late Dean Smith, coaching legend and former Tar Heels basketball coach. The Dean Smith Award will be presented annually by the USBWA to an individual in college basketball who embodies the spirit and values represented by Smith.
