Through the 1996 season, Greg Ellis’s junior year as a All-ACC and All-America defensive end, the Tar Heels were 35-8-1 in Kenan Stadium in the 1990s, including 5-0 in ’96. They would win five of six at home in 1997 and notch back-to-back Top 10 finishes in 1996-97. The defense that Ellis was a part of limited opponents to an average of 217 yards and 11.5 points a game over two seasons.
