Heath, Klingenberg Help U.S. Win World Cup
Posted Jul 6, 2015
The Women's World Cup came to a conclusion on Sunday with the United States taking a dominating 5-2 win over Japan. It was the first World Cup title for USA since 1999 and avenges a loss in the 2011 final to Japan. Former Tar Heels Tobin Heath and Meghan Klingenberg started for the US during the tournament and were crucial pieces to the team's success. Klingenberg made a crucial save on the goal line in the Group D draw versus Sweden.
