Sammy Batten: Improved UNC defense undermined by offense

Well, that wasn't what I expected. It wasn't surprising that South Carolina defeated North Carolina, 17-13, in the Belk College Kickoff to open the 2015 football season at Bank of America Stadium. After all, the Gamecocks are part of the powerhouse Southeastern Conference where even the mediocre teams - and South Carolina appears to be among those this season - normally whip up on foes outside the league.
