North Carolina's defense, the focal point of the offseason following an abysmal 2014 campaign and the addition of coordinator Gene Chizik, did enough to put the Tar Heels in position to beat South Carolina. In an ironic twist, North Carolina's critical mistakes on offense ended up being their road to ruin in a 17-13 loss to the Gamecocks.
