How shifting date of Charlotte kickoff changed the game for UNC and South Carolina

UNC and the University of South Carolina will each receive $3.2 million for playing in Charlotte last week. On Sept. 3, CBJ reported a guarantee of $2.5 million that could have gone to $3.2 million with a sellout. A contract amendment changed the game date to Sept. 3 from Sept. 5 at the request of ESPN and, as part of that agreement, increased the guaranteed payout to $3.2 million per team.
