UNC's Garrett White charged with simple assault

Chapel Hill police charged North Carolina football player Garrett White, 20, with simple assault early Sunday morning after he allegedly punched another man. White, a 6-2, 235-pound reserve linebacker who completed his sophomore season in 2006, remains on the team. UNC coach Butch Davis said in a statement released by the school. "We will discipline Garrett and also monitor the judicial process related to this case."
