Nationally ranked #5 UNC visited #1 Pittsburgh at Three Rivers Stadium in a battle of Heisman Trophy candidates that never materialized on September 9, 1982. UNC RB Kelvin Bryant was held to 58 yards on 16 carries, while Pitt QB Dan Marino passed for just 125 yards with 4 interceptions as Pitt squeaked out a 7-6 win.
