1990 Virginia-Georgia Tech game was 'bigger than life'

Coach George Welsh’s Cavaliers had obliterated everything in their path en route to a three-week ride atop the national polls, something longtime Wahoo fans believed they would never witness. On Nov. 3, 1990, after a week of frenzied buildup from coast to coast, it all came crashing down off the foot of Georgia Tech kicker Scott Sisson, who drilled a 37-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining to give the also-unbeaten Yellow Jackets a stunning 41-38 win.
