From the first bounce of the ball in mid-October until the final "Shot" in late March, North Carolina's 1982 team flashed the components of a national champion. Picked No. 1 in preseason, those Tar Heels featuring James Worthy, Sam Perkins and Michael Jordan went 32-2 and gave Dean Smith his first NCAA title with a 63-62 win over Georgetown in New Orleans' Superdome.
