One thing we learned about John Thompson on Tuesday night: he is honest. Another thing we learned about Thompson: he loved Dean Smith, and the first-ever Dean Smith Award could not have gone to a more perfect recipient. The former Georgetown coach told the sold-out crowd that he would never have journeyed to Chapel Hill to accept an award if it was in honor of anyone but Smith.
