It was just a handshake. Frank Beamer was on his way out of town. He had slipped into Chapel Hill in November of 2000. The UNC football coaching job was coming open, and Beamer was the hottest candidate in the country. Carolina had tired of the Carl Torbush experiment, and the Tar Heels were going after Beamer and his entire staff.
