Hokies' best shot not quite good enough in house that Frank built

The only comparable outpouring for a coach that I've witnessed was when UNC's Dean Smith eclipsed Adolph Rupp's career victories record in a 1997 NCAA tournament game in Winston-Salem, N.C. Those Tar Heels eventually carried Smith to the Final Four, an elite status these Hokies (5-6, 3-4 ACC) never approached. But that's OK. In fact, it's added to Frank Beamer's affection for this group.
