East Lincoln High senior quarterback Chazz Surratt, who set a North Carolina record for total offense Friday, won’t need surgery on his injured left elbow, his mother told the Observer Tuesday. Brandi Surratt said doctors at UNC, where her son has committed to play football, told the family surgery isn’t needed. He will wear a hinged brace for a week and then begin rehab.
