Clemson-UNC ACC title game conjures memories of famous 1981 matchup

When Clemson and UNC meet Saturday for the 2015 ACC football championship it’ll mark the biggest matchup in that rivalry since a pair of Cleveland County products squared off in 1981. Back then, there was no Bowl Championship Series or a procedure by which a true national champion could be crowned as only the national polls determined champions in those days. (Gaston Gazette)
