That's exactly why you play road games in December. The Frank Erwin Center was the loudest venue the Tar Heels have played in away from home yet this year. That's the Carolina effect; the Longhorn crowd had been criticized earlier this week when they barely put 3,000 fans in the stands for a weeknight non-league game. That wasn't the case Saturday, as it was full and rowdy.
