1 - Dec. 28, 1979 (Gator Bowl) - UNC 17, Michigan 15 Going into the Gator Bowl that year, many of Michigan's players openly did not respect the Tar Heels, suggesting they were inferior, played in a lousy conference, etc. All the Heels did was physically give the Wolverines a game they never expected, and did so in prime time on network TV in a game that helped UNC football's national reputation (and the ACC's) begin to change.
