On these 30-minute drives to and from Lake Highland, Joel Berry Sr. wants to talk to his son — who’s one of the most talented basketball players in the area. He wants to be able to make an impact on him. “So we could talk about life,” Berry Sr. says, “And always remind him that life is bigger than basketball. And we called it the ride in the white truck.”
