Knight set to surpass Smith

The torch will be passed as quietly as possible when Bobby Knight eclipses Dean Smith’s record for most NCAA Division I coaching wins for men’s teams. That’s the preference of both legends, who publicly try to deflect attention away from the milestone. Knight is tied with Smith with 879 wins. The first opportunity to break the record comes tonight when Knight’s Texas Tech (10-3) team plays UNLV (11-2). (Asheville Citizen-Times)
