Davis, O'Brien begin their race side by side
Posted Dec 20, 2006
If history holds, North Carolina's Butch Davis and N.C. State's Tom O'Brien will be coaching rivals for years to come. State has had three head football coaches in the past two decades and Carolina four. Only one of those seven -- UNC's Carl Torbush -- failed to last six seasons. O'Brien and Davis will be linked as long as they remain in the Triangle, even though that's not how they might prefer to see it.
