Chicago Red Stars to Retire Lori Chalupny’s Number

The Chicago Red Stars announced Thursday that they will retire club legend and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion Lori Chalupny’s number 17 jersey. The former Tar Heel earned her first cap with the U.S. squad in 2001, and she would be a fixture for the next nine years, earning 92 appearances and wearing the captain’s armband on several occasions.
