Ever since that June 7 afternoon in Raleigh, North Carolina State outfielder Brock Deatherage monitored eventual NCAA baseball champion Coastal Carolina’s progress through the rest of the NCAA Tournament. It lasted more than three weeks. “From my perspective, if Coastal won it all, we’re one out away from being national champions,” Deatherage said.
