40 years ago, U.S. Olympians - coached by Dean Smith - played, beat the Allentown Jets


As a run-up to the '76 Olympics in Montreal, the U.S. team, coached by UNC coach , came to Bethlehem to take on the Allentown Jets, champions of the Eastern Basketball Association, which served as a minor league for the NBA. Smith was already well known to Lehigh Valley basketball fans after recruiting Catasauqua star in 1964. (Allentown Morning Call)
