Carnegie Corporation tabs Aziz Sancar as “Great Immigrant” honoree
Posted Jul 12, 2016
Aziz Sancar, MD, PhD, came to the United States as a graduate student more than 40 years ago. He never left. He took pride in his new country – and his adopted hometown of Chapel Hill – much like he took pride in his home country of Turkey. His dedication to his work on DNA repair and the circadian clock, earned him the 2015 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
