Tar Heels' Davis says process will take time

North Carolina played one of its biggest nonconference basketball games Dec. 2, but for eight minutes the afternoon belonged to a man who had been on campus for less than a week. Butch Davis made his first official public appearance as UNC's football coach at halftime of the UNC-Kentucky game. He walked onto the court through the tunnel used by visiting team uses, and his first step forward, shown on the Smith Center video boards, produced a sudden, thunderous welcome.
