Williams can win his 500th
Posted Dec 9, 2006
Roy Williams can move into elite position among ACC basketball coaches today when North Carolina comes out of a weeklong break for final exams to play High Point University. Williams needs one win to reach 500 for his career, which is in its 19th season. He would be the second North Carolina coach to reach 500 wins, joining the retired Dean Smith, college basketball's all-time leader with 879, but would join only eight ACC coaches who have reached the mark.
