Paying Davis a lot won't guarantee wins, isn't worth risk
Posted Dec 2, 2006
Most of us won't make $1.7 million in our entire lives. Butch Davis will make it in his first year at the helm of the Tar Heel football program. That is far too much. No matter where the money's coming from, the fact remains that Davis' salary will be more than 10 times that of the average University professor. This seeming lack of deference for professors could impact the quality of those who take jobs here.
