Bunting exits a winner as Heels nip Duke
Posted Nov 26, 2006
John Bunting waded through the hugs from well-wishers and made the final walk off the field as North Carolina's football coach. He thanked his players and coaching staff and signed off with these six words: "Goodbye. It's been swell. I'm gone." The Butch Davis era begins Monday, but this was Bunting's last hurrah, and he exited a winner. North Carolina beat Duke 45-44 on Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium in as entertaining a game as two teams with two combined wins can play.
