Carroll ends up at USC, not UNC

Here's one for the "What if?" file: Six years ago, Pete Carroll -- who has rebuilt Southern California into a national college football power -- pursued his current job only after he didn't get a call from North Carolina. Since then, Carroll is 60-10 and has won two national championships. Carolina is 25-42 and is looking to replace the coach it did hire, John Bunting.
