From Cape Town to Chapel Hill: UNC swimmer Craig Emslie transforms when he hits the water


When Craig Emslie races, he becomes a different person. Thirty minutes before every race, the junior breaststroker from Cape Town, South Africa puts his headphones on, turns up his music and enters a new state of mind. As his playlist shuffles between hip-hop, EDM and Afrikaans music, Emslie transforms from an outgoing, relaxed beach bum into a cold, calculating machine with only one goal: victory.
