Wilson Library opens exhibit on integration of varsity sports at Carolina

When Charles Scott took the floor for the men’s basketball team on Dec. 2, 1967, he became the first African-American to play on the varsity basketball team at Carolina. When Dean Smith was hired as head basketball coach in 1961, one of his goals was to recruit African-American players for Carolina.
