North Carolina is lovely during almost the entire year, thanks to the Appalachian Mountains blocking the gross chubby weather of the Midwest from corrupting Dean Smith’s elegant basketball and pork BBQ factory. With a giant coastline protected on the other side by the Outer Banks, mainland Carolina seems like it’s in a prime position, until you start Googling hurricane danger. (Thrillist)
