The nickname started with assistant principal John Trela, who trumpeted the accomplishments of "Hakeem the Dream" during morning announcements at Charlotte's Independence High. As Hakeem Nicks made 93 receptions -- 20 for touchdowns -- as a senior last season, classmates addressed him by his nickname. (Charlotte Observer)
