UNC hurt by ‘soft’ defense
Posted Sep 4, 2006
So much for starting a new season off with a new attitude. “This wasn’t the New Blue defense we set out to be,” Larry Edwards said. “We didn’t have an ounce of focus. “Rutgers is a very average team. We played so far below average. We were soft.” As the designated leader of UNC’s defense, Edwards was the primary target of coach John Bunting in the locker room after the game. Bunting lit into Edwards, condemning an effort he labeled “a disgrace.”
