No longer will UNC play defense from the back line forward, instead shifting its emphasis to the line of scrimmage, pressing wide receivers, adding extra defenders to the box to take away the run while applying more pressure off the edge. That style of defense has been noticeably absent in Chapel Hill. “We’re taking the leash off,” safety Donnie Miles said.
