University of Virginia cancels athletic events in wake of Charlottesville violence

The University of Virginia cancelled all athletic events Saturday amid violence between white supremacists and counter-protesters in Charlottesville, where UVA is based. The football team’s annual meet the team day, a men’s soccer exhibition match against Wright State and a showing of the movie “Beauty and the Beast” at Scott Stadium were among the events called off.
