Aleric Mullins waits for approval

Incoming North Carolina freshman still has not been approved to play by the NCAA Clearinghouse and is hoping to conclude his appeal this week, East Wake coach Jimmy Williams said Monday. The star defensive lineman continues to practice with the Tar Heels, but if he is not cleared by the Clearinghouse, he will have to attend a prep school. If that happens, Williams said, Mullins would miss this semester at UNC but might be able to return to Chapel Hill in time for spring football. (Raleigh News & Observer)
